I'm no pedant, people, but don't look at me like I'm crazy when I use the following pronunciations:
- Daemon is pronounced: Brit. /ˈdiːmən/, U.S. /ˈdim(ə)n/ (that's “dee-mun” people)
-
MySQL is pronounced “My Ess Que Ell” (not “my sequel”).
-
PostgreSQL is pronounced post-GRES-que-ell
-
SQLite is pronounced “Ess Que Ell Ite”. Kinda like it's spelled.
-
Valgrind: the “Val” as in the world “value”, and the “grind” is pronounced with a short 'i' — ie. “grinned” (rhymes with “tinned”) rather than “grined” (rhymes with “find”).
-
Verdana I pronounce as verd-ANA.
The name is based on verdant (something green), and Ana (the name of Howlett's [the MS employee who commissioned the font] eldest daughter).
